The sound of love

2/28/2016

Comments

There was a stretch in my twenties when I would have to play this song every night before I went to sleep. The song expresses perfectly that young desire for pure love, not only in the lyrics, but the piano, and the guitar, the most heavenly guitar imaginable..
Sweet Little Angel by Buddy Guy (Track 7 from "A Man and the Blues" - 1968)

Stan Burfield That was me. Blues was rock with the feeling. Rock was blues without it.

Al Broudy I guess I did. I still like Willie's Roadhouse.

Stan Burfield Willie Nelson? One of my all-time favourite singers. How could he not be. Angel flyin too close to the ground. I like angels in songs. Listened to Buddy Guy's enough times.

Al Broudy I post a lot of music here. Have you not noticed? I have seriusxm in the truck at work. Theses are some of my presets: 50s music, coffee house (acoustic), Willie's Roadhouse (older country), Sinatra, jazz, Quebecois.

Al Broudy I like it. The hip hop sensibility, like everything American, has spread world-wide. The field songs/blues/rock and roll came from Africa with the sons of the fathers who were carried to this land and then made it's way back there in a subtly changed form. I love it.

Al Broudy I think most people don't realize how much of our music is of African derivation. That and Celtic.

Linda Eva Williams This is exactly how John plays the blues - and people love it. If you ever get around to coming to Alberta again, let's do a jam, or at least go to one here. Also, ditto about Willie Nelson. Or how about Hank Williams (no relation frown emoticon ), Patsy Cline...? Now, I'm sounding like a true fuddy-duddy.
