Stan Burfield Thanks, Tina. I thought this might remind you of a certain artist. Except for all the decorations.

Linda Eva Williams Do you have anything "guy" in the house? A messy man-cave for example? I want a house this shiny and pretty, but John simply cannot see dirt or disorder.

Stan Burfield Yes, I have a messy room I don't allow Linda to organize for me, although she keeps asking if she can, and telling me how much easier my life would be if she did. :) (But I hate the term man cave.)

Tina Pickard Yes I remember well and I did think of Edward Hopper but I saw Linda in the background and I immediately thought of a 1960"s magazine of a modern living room and I am trying to remember the name of the womens magazine.

Tina Pickard I just realized I said woman's magazine.

Tina Pickard Well Stan it does have a womans touch but I can see the word love stamped all over the room.
Unlike · Reply · 1 · 1 January at 20:55
Stan Burfield Oh yes, it does look like that too! But since looking at Hopper's paintings, seeing a partial view of a woman by herself, especially looking at herself, for some reason, has that feeling of loneliness of Hopper's for me.

Linda Eva Williams It reminds me of the Dutch interiors in the golden age of Dutch painting, of ordinary household scenes with an aproned woman pottering in a stark but charming kitchen, a vase on the table, a slice of life, where we spend most of our time.

Stan Burfield Ha ha. Yes, a bit of that, for sure. Nice idea, Linda.

Linda Eva Williams I betcha Linda insisted, or implied, that you were not to take a photo before she arranged the room, just so, because I would have suggested, nay, insisted, as a point of pride.

Stan Burfield No. Ha ha. But I never put it on the internet unlesss she's seen it first. And she liked this one.

Stan Burfield What I especially like about this photo is that all the rooms are beautifully lit by natural outdoor light, except that small slice of the washroom with Linda in it looking inward, lit by indoor yellow lighting.

Sheila Deane What have you contributed to your home's decor Stan?

Sheila Deane Where's the farmhouse chic?
Like · Reply · 1 January at 21:31
Stan Burfield My contribution is in letting Linda decorate it however she wants to, except for my room. It's all she has in life. She's a very visual person, unlike me, who can read, write, talk, organize social things, hike in the bush, etc etc. But still she tries to take my taste into account whenever she can. Which results in some very surprising creativity sometimes.

Stan Burfield For a good example of her creation of something totally new to suit both our tastes, see the star on the Christmas tree in my previous posting, of her Christmas decorations. It's pretty astonishing when you really think about it.

Stan Burfield Everything you see in this photo Linda has at least painted, if not made. Except the tea pot. She upholstered the chairs, made the cushions, arrangements, lamp shades, etc.

Lyn Peel Are you a Wedgewood fan by any chance? The colour is beautiful by the way.

Stan Burfield Linda says, "I am. But I didn't get it from there. I got it from the colours of nature--the greens of the forests, the lavender from the lavender fields of France, and the white from the clouds."
